shrink pores, turkey neck, and stronger skin

It’s mail time! Once again, the skin care mail bag is stuffed with questions – this time from Bioelements Facebook fans. We asked you to tell us about the skin care advice you want, and you delivered! The focus is on making pores appear smaller, tightening and toning skin, and helping your skin become more resilient. You’ve got questions and we’ve got answers!

Q: How do I fix a “turkey” neck?

A: All of the same skin care products and techniques used on your face to help discourage skin aging can be applied to your neck – but people often forget to extend their skin care down onto their neck and v-area. Apply a chemical exfoliant every night to stimulate cell turnover, then follow with V-Neck Smoothing Creme – a chest-to-chin treatment that visibly improves the appearance of neck wrinkles, and smoothes out skin texture. During the day, don’t forget to apply broad spectrum sunscreen to your neck as well. This will prevent skin-damaging UV rays from causing further skin-aging.

Q: How do I make my pores disappear?

A: There’s no way to get rid of your pores, but the good news is you can make them appear smaller. Skip the products that claim to “shrink” and “fill” pores until they vanish – they’ll only add to the dirt, oil, and debris that make pores look bigger in the long run by filling them and stretching them! Take the attention away from your pores by keeping them free and clear of congestion.

These are the 4 steps you should take to minimize pores:

  1. Cleanse: Ensure pores are completely clear of dirt, oil, and makeup by using the right cleanser for your skin type morning and night.
  2. Exfoliate: Lower the odds of clogging pores with dead skin cells by exfoliating regularly.
  3. Treat: For the most stubborn clogged pores, apply a clay-based facial mask for 10 minutes to eliminate congestion, and balance skin.
  4. Control: Keep oil under control by balancing production at the source with an oil control mattifier.

Q: I want stronger, more resilient skin – how do I make it happen?

A: The best way to ensure your skin is as strong as possible is by consistently using the right daily essentials for your skin type. Twice daily cleansing, toning, and moisturizing will ensure your skin stays balanced, allowing it to progressively grow stronger, and more resilient. Specific skin-strengthening products will vary depending on your skin type, concerns, and sensitivity level. Book an appointment at a Bioelements Spa, so an experienced skin care professional can personally recommend what’s right for your skin, and develop a treatment plan to target your unique skin concerns.
